Cinnemaldehyde Health Benefits
Cinnamaldehyde is 3-phenylprop-2-enal the substance that gives cinnamon its distinctive flavor and smell, which is also its predominant industrial use - to flavor candy, chewing gum, beverages and so on. However, it does offer some health benefits.
Health Benefits
When used in Big Red, a cinnamon flavored chewing gum produced by Wrigley, it reduced mouth bacteria growth by over 50%*. It is particular effective against anaerobic bacteria at the back of the tongue that cause halitosis (bad breath).
Cinnamaldehyde is also used as a fungicide and insecticide, and would therefore be expected, not only to freshen your mouth and give it a good smell, but also cleanse it of any fungal or bacterial infections.
